Milford-on-Sea

Milford on Sea is a popular and quaint seaside village with a superb range of independent shops and pubs which are open all year round. Several restaurants are catering for all culinary tastes, including Italian and Thai. Award-winning ‘Verviene’ fish market restaurant offers fine dining, we recommend booking in advance.

Walking out of the cottage and round to the High Street is the newly refurbished Saltwater Cafe. Additionally a few paces further into the village, there is the award-winning Smugglers Inn, The Cave, Hurst on the Hill and Rays Italian & The Lighthouse to mention just a few.

There are various community events held on the village green in the summer and these prove extremely popular.

Milford on Sea boasts a fabulous stone and sand beach just a 5 minutes walk from the property, with spectacular views across the Solent including panoramic views of The Needles, Isle of Wight and Christchurch Bay. Take picturesque walks toward Hordle Cliff, Keyhaven and Hurst Castle or just relax and enjoy the beach and a summer swim.

A further 10 minutes walk leads to the stunning Lymington Keyhaven Marshes Nature Reserve, including an idyllic bridge where children can safely go crabbing and fishing.

The New Forest

Take a 10 minute drive into the New Forest National Park and enjoy a range of stunning walks, cycle rides or horse riding whilst exploring the pretty villages of Brockenhurst, Burley, Beaulieu, Sway and Lyndhurst. The Georgian high street of Lymington has great independent shops and cafes, a fantastic market every Saturday with artisan food stalls. The beautiful Quay and Marina making it well worth a visit.

You can commune with nature as you explore the heathland, forest glades and ancient woodland, spot the free-roaming ponies, sheep and cows graze on the open land and you will see deer too if you are lucky. The nature reserve at Keyhaven is very popular with birdwatchers. Many species use the marsh as a stop-over on their migration routes. You can find many activities to partake in, paddleboarding, horseriding, sailing, the choice is endless!

We absolutely loved Karen’s cottage. Not only is it perfectly located for lovely Milford on Sea and surrounds (we loved Highcliffe Beach) but the interior is stunning and really well thought out. The beds are really comfortable. Towels and linen are of a great quality and kitchen is brilliantly equipped for all. The garden area is really sweet and well designed too. Karen was on hand for all our questions - and really quick to respond We wouldn’t hesitate at all to recommend, and we’ll certainly be back. Huge thank you Karen! X

The property description is accurate - it's very comfortable and well equipped. Everything my wife (69) and I (74) needed was there. It was quiet and just what we wanted for 4 days of chilling out. The bed was comfortable and spacious. The cottage is very conveniently close to the High Street, which has plenty of eating places, and a range of shops. Immediately opposite where the drive from the mews opens onto the High Street, is the "boutique" Saltwater Cafe - which has an original and interesting menu and a great atmosphere - the food is beautifully presented. The cottage was a great base for exploring the area.

Seashell Cottage is simply beautiful and is very tastefully decorated, with everything you will ever need during your stay. It is warm, cosy and comfortable. My husband and I loved everything about it and will definitely be back! The cottage is close to the town and beach with many lovely eating places nearby. Karen herself was fantastic with many helpful tips and instant responses. I cannot recommend her and her cottage enough. Thank you x
